- E. Walpole, MA, USA--Ocean Data Equipment announces the
new Bathy 500MF Multi Frequency Survey Echo Sounder. The 500MF replaces the model 500 and
includes expanded features and improved performance. The 500MF continues to be offered at
a price extremely competitive with sounders having less capability.
Production quantities of the model Bathy-500MF will be availiable for shipment from
stock in January. The Bathy 500MF includes the following enhancements:

 | --MULTI-FREQUENCY OPERATION
|
The 500MF operates at multiple frequencies. The frequency of
operation is controlled from a keypad menu selection. Frequencies available are 33, 40,
50, and 200 kHz. This allows surveyors to quickly change between 40 and 200 kHz for
example, when surveying in areas with suspected low density fluff layers. The maximum
depth of operation will be 640 meters at 33 KHz.
| --1 CM DEPTH RESOLUTION
|
Depth data isdisplayed and transmitted with 1 cm resolution for
depths less than 99.99 meters and 0.1 feet for depths to 99.9 feet. For depths greater
than 99.9 units, resolution will remain at 0.1 unit.
| --EXTERNAL FIX MARK/ANNOTATION
|
Fix marks can be controlled via the RS232/422 serial port from an
external computer. Also, alpha-numeric annotation strings can be entered. This information
will be annotated on the paper record with the fix mark.
| --NMEA GPS VARIABLE FORMAT DATA
|
GPS software has been modified to accept GLL and GGA input
strings having variable formats. Data from GPS units such as Novatel with seven digits to
the right of the decimal place will now be accepted.
| --4800/9600 PROGRAMMABLE BAUD RATE
|
GPS data input and NMEA data output baud rates are programmable
to either 4800 or 9600 baud from the keypad. This allows reception of data strings from
older model GPS receivers.
| --EXTERNAL CONTROL OF SETUP PARAMETERS
|
All parameters, which normally are set or changed via the front
panel key pad, can also be controlled from an external computer via the RS 232/422 input
port.
| --CE MARK QUALIFICATION
|
The unit is CE certified for unrestricted sales into European
Union countries.
| -- HYPACK AND HYDRO COMPATIBILITY
Software is compatible for Bathy 500MF data output strings to
Coastal Oceanographic Hypack and Trimble Hydro surveying software packages. Menu
selections have been added for these formats.
